This morning I met up with my Mom & Brother for a coffee date. Local Jo was the obvious choice since David lives close by. Yes, this is the same Local Jo’s that Ang raves about all the time!
Such a cute little café! Jo’s offers fair trade and organic coffee & local teas, home baked treats, sublime soups & sandwiches. Right up my alley! 🙂
There was a decent selection of hot and cold beverages. I was ready for more caffeine and ordered an Iced Americano with vanilla syrup.
We had a good time catching up.
Along with the drinks, we shared this chocolate mint biscotti. Yes, chocolate mint biscotti. Quite possibly the BEST biscotti that I’ve ever had. No lie. I love me some biscotti and must re-create this ASAP. I believe mint chocolate chips are the key.
While we were sitting there, I decided that I actually needed something with more substance. There was a small selection of sandwiches, soup & pizza. Everything sounded good; ended up ordering the roasted veggie sandwich for lunch.
Delish! Roasted green peppers, carrots, onions, mushrooms (and probably more veggies?) with pesto and cheese on a baguette. It was made yesterday so they actually gave it to me for 50% off too. Less then $4.00 with tax. Gotta love a cheap and tasty lunch!
This was not my first time visiting Jo’s but it’s the first time I’ve had their food. YUM! I will be back!
Do you frequent local cafés or do you prefer chains like Starbucks or Tim Horton’s?

Mom and I spent the rest of the afternoon shopping. I picked up some new bed linens, a few dishes, a wallet and made a quick trip to Bulk Barn. Oh, and scored some fresh, local corn that we had for supper tonight! Nothing better then fresh veggies. 🙂
Oh, and have to say that while I haven’t been tracking, my eats of late has been awesome! I’m really trying to be aware of my hunger and making healthy choices.
I’m really tired, wishing I had of booked a vacation day tomorrow. That’s all.
