Help​ RCMP solve nine recent​ property​ crimes

Halifax District RCMP is asking for public help to solve​ nine property offences which​ happened between March 31 and April 10 in communities located off of Prospect Rd./Hwy 333 (in an area known locally as “Prospect Loop”) in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Sometime between March 31 and April 7 on Atlantic St. in Blind Bay, a seasonal residence’s rear window was smashed with a rock.​ No items were reported stolen.

Between March 27 and April 7, a Nova Scotia licence plate with the number “EYY 064” was stolen from a Dodge Caravan parked in​ the driveway of a​ home on Privateer Rd. in West Dover.

On April 4,​ someone entered a​ home’s garage​ on​ Westridge Rd. in Hatchet Lake without permission​ through the side door. Nothing was reported stolen.

Sometime overnight between April 8 and 9, three thefts from unlocked motor vehicles were reported​ on Shady Vista Dr. in Hatchet Lake. Money, sunglasses, gifts cards and a jacket were stolen.

On April 9, a Hyundai Elantra was stolen from a home’s driveway on Shady Vista Dr. in Hatchet Lake. The vehicle was recovered in Hatchet Lake on April 10.​ No damage was reported.

Sometime overnight between April 9 and 10, an attempted break and enter to a home’s garage​ was reported on Yeaholm Way in Brookside.​ It appeared that someone pulled on the locked​ side door, opening it slightly, but not enough to gain entry.​

Sometime overnight between April 9 and 10, a theft was reported from an unlocked motor vehicle on Tara Dr. in Whites Lake. Loose change and a gift card were reported stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.​

Police are also reminding property owners to lock their homes, garages and vehicles, especially overnight. Property owners can take extra steps to deter thieves such as installing outdoor lights, motion sensors or trail cameras.
