Halifax Harbour Bridges reminds the public that tolling will end on Monday, March 17, bringing significant changes to traffic patterns and bridge operations.

Angus L. Macdonald Bridge closures for toll plaza removal

To facilitate the removal of its toll plaza, the Macdonald Bridge will close:

Friday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. to Monday, March 17 at 5:30 a.m.

Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. to Monday, March 24 at 5:30 a.m.

Pedestrians and cyclists should be aware that they will share the pedestrian lane from March 14-17 and may experience delays.

Traffic advisory for motorists

• When the Macdonald Bridge reopens on Monday, March 17, motorists should be mindful of new lane configurations and watch their speeds.

• On the MacKay Bridge, traffic will be routed to the right outside lanes in both directions starting Monday, March 17, as preparations begin for toll plaza removal on that bridge. Expect to see workers and extra equipment on the bridge.

• The Princess Margaret Boulevard on-ramp to the MacKay Bridge will close Sunday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. for approximately six weeks.

Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are urged to exercise caution and remain alert for all changes as we move to free-flowing, toll-free traffic.

Weekend closures of the MacKay Bridge will be required for toll plaza removal, but specific dates are yet to be finalized.
