Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) advises motorists, pedestrians and cyclists of its high wind procedures on the two harbour bridges in anticipation of Hurricane Earl.
· The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will close to cyclists and pedestrians if there are sustained winds of 75 kilometres an hour or gusts of 85 kilometres an hour. A shuttle service is provided up to the point when the bridge closes.
· The A. Murray MacKay Bridge will close to high-sided vehicles if there are sustained winds of 85 kilometres an hour.
· If there are sustained winds of 120 kilometres an hour or more on either bridge both bridges will close.
· The variable message signs (VMS) on the approach roads to the MacKay Bridge will indicate if restrictions are in place.
