HHB advises of bridge closures during storm event

Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) advises motorists, pedestrians and cyclists of its high wind procedures on the two harbour bridges in anticipation of Hurricane Earl.

Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) advises motorists, pedestrians and cyclists of its high wind procedures on the two harbour bridges in anticipation of Hurricane Earl.

 

·                     The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will close to cyclists and pedestrians if there are sustained winds of 75 kilometres an hour or gusts of 85 kilometres an hour. A shuttle service is provided up to the point when the bridge closes.

 

·                     The A. Murray MacKay Bridge will close to high-sided vehicles if there are sustained winds of 85 kilometres an hour.

 

·                     If there are sustained winds of 120 kilometres an hour or more on either bridge both bridges will close.

 

·                     The variable message signs (VMS) on the approach roads to the MacKay Bridge will indicate if restrictions are in place.
