At 6:53 p.m. tonight, Kings District RCMP received a 911 call about two people who had become stranded and required rescuing.
A 23-year-old woman from Dieppe, New Brunswick and a 30-year-old man from Halifax had been hiking Cape Split when they became stranded after leaving the main trail to explore Amethyst Cove.
A High Angle Rescue Team consisting of fire fighters from Canning, New Minas and Waterville Fire Departments rescued the hikers. The pair were treated on-scene by EHS for exhaustion.
