Highway 101 collision claims man’s life

On July 10, just before 2:30 p.m., Windsor RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 101 near St. Croix.

A car had stopped in the right lane of the divided portion of the highway, in the eastbound direction, when it was struck from behind by a commercial truck.

The driver of the car, an 83-year-old man from Margaretville, died at the scene. The passenger of the car, a 78-year-old woman from Margaretville, was transported to hospital via LifeFlight with what is believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Highway 101 was closed until approximately 2:30 a.m. today as an RCMP Collision Analyst examined the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
