Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that a section of sidewalk on Hollis Street, and a section of sidewalk and the parking lane on South Street will be closed to all traffic for the next six months to facilitate a private development underway on that corner.
Starting tomorrow, Feb. 12, the sidewalk on the west side of Hollis Street between Terminal Road and South Street will be closed. Pedestrians will have access to the crosswalks at the corner of Hollis and South streets to travel around the closure.
The sidewalk and four parking spots immediately in front of the development, on the north side of South Street, will also be closed. Pedestrians will continue to have access to the sidewalk on the south side of the street. There will be no parking in the affected area for the duration of the closure. Vehicle traffic will be permitted to travel through in both directions.
The sidewalk and parking spaces are expected to reopen by Aug. 31. The municipality regrets any inconvenience these closures may cause; however, we would remind the public they are required for safety reasons.
