Home Assault In Bayview Drive Neighborhood

This From Halifax Regional Police Service:

“At 618 am this morning police received a call of an injured person on Bayview Drive, Halifax.   Upon arrival officers found a 28 year old female suffering injuries to her face.  She was transported to the QE II Emergency for treatment.   Police learned that her 33 year old common law boyfriend had assaulted her earlier in the morning.  Police attended their residence on Manor Lane, Halifax and found that the suspect had barricaded the door and was holding a large kitchen knife to his throat, threatening suicide.   The suspect was eventually convinced to discard his weapon and to comply with police directions.  He was arrested without incident and transported to Halifax Cells where he will be held for Court on Monday.

He is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous in relation to today’s incident.

The victim was treated and released from hospital with bruising and fractures to her facial bones.”
