Home is Where the Heart Is…

I know it’s been a while since I blogged… I’ve been busy wallowing in self pity and that takes up a lot of time. Sorry.

Our house is still for sale. We had a buyer and then we didn’t.

Disappointed doesn’t even cover it… so today I sit here waiting for a call for a second showing from some folks who looked at the house last night. And again, I’m wallowing.

I haven’t had much time to think about what this house means to me.

It’s the house that we moved into when I was coming home. Back to my hometown. Back to family.

It’s the house I moved in a three year old and a six year and now they are moving out at 8 and 11.

It’s the house where we’ve held living room dance parties, family suppers, birthday parties, book club get togethers, movie nights, bonfires in the backyard…

It’s the house we brought a cute little puppy home to who quickly grew into a large beast of a dog.

It’s the house we were so happy to return to after trips to Florida, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Toronto and more.

It’s our house. But hopefully soon it will be someone else’s house. And I say hopefully because the sale of the house represents another milestone in our lives as we move on and start another chapter. Not that I want to move but I need closure to help move forward.

We’ve decided to build a house in Halifax. It will be our new home. We will create new memories there, I know because what I love most about my home is the people with whom I get to share it… family, friends, even Wacko the dog.

So while the story in this home will soon end another one will begin in our new home.
