The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is investigating two incidents that occurred in Kings and Hants Counties on May 24, including a homicide and a home invasion.

During the early morning hours on May 24, two residents fled their home on Ridge Rd. in Wolfville, Kings County after unknown persons entered their residence while they were sleeping.  When police arrived at the scene they found evidence that someone had been injured, but it was not the homeowners. The homeowners do not know the identity of the intruders, however the attack is not believed to be random. The suspects were seen leaving the area in a grey van. 

A short time after 7 a.m. the same day, a vehicle fire was reported to police in the Rock Rd. area of St. Croix, in Hants County. The vehicle involved was a grey van and police found human remains inside.  Police are also working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to determine the identity of the deceased person. Positive identification has not yet been made.

The investigation is ongoing. The MCU is being assisted by members of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Special Tactical Operations, Underwater Recovery Team, and Nova Scotia RCMP’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft Services.
