Hopscotch Festival of Youth – September 27 and 28

Tuesday, September 24, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – The Hopscotch Festival of Youth takes place September 27 and 28 in HRM.

Chicago/Detroit based hip hop duo The Cool Kids will headline this year’s festival on September 28. The festival will also showcase local hip hop performers like Quake, Kayo and The Caravan with DJ IV, as well as Halifax hip hop pioneers, Universal Soul.

Hopscotch Festival of Youth takes its name from the classic schoolyard game, hopscotch. The game can be played pretty much anywhere and is always a little bit different every time. The Hopscotch Festival embraces that by using different and unexpected spaces and venues, as well as showcasing new and unique performers.

This year’s festival hopes to bring the hip hop community together like never before. Performances will be scheduled on both sides of the harbour. A visual art component of the festival will take place at The Cove in Dartmouth, presented by Waterfront Development.

The official Saturday night after party will feature Halifax’s first-ever Silent Disco at the Marquee Club. Participants will listen to music via wireless headphones, allowing each individual to experience their own personal dance club experience. Several DJ’s will perform various forms of music ranging from electronic to hip hop.
