Fall Job Fair returns Tuesday to the Zatzman Sportsplex, with 84 employers listed

The Nova Scotia Works HRM Fall Job Fair is Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Zatzman Sportsplex, 110 Wyse Rd. in Dartmouth.

It costs nothing to attend. The organizers call it the largest general job fair of the season.

Somewhere in the middle — and that's okay.

The organizers’ website lists 84 registered employers. They warn the list may change without notice. The jobs range widely:

  • Government: the Halifax Regional Municipality (including police, fire and transit), Halifax Transit bus operators, Halifax Water, Halifax Harbour Bridges, the Government of Nova Scotia, the Canada Border Services Agency, the Canadian Coast Guard and the Department of National Defence
  • Health care: Nova Scotia Health, Emergency Health Services, Northwood, Shannex and VON
  • Trades and construction: several construction companies and union locals
  • Transportation: many Class 1 and Class 3 driving jobs
  • Hospitality: the Westin Nova Scotian, Casino Nova Scotia and Events East Group
  • Other: Loblaw, NSLC, TD Bank and Sun Life

Getting there

The Sportsplex is beside the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth, with several bus routes. Free parking on site is limited. See the location page for details.

What help is on site

The organizers say there is free resume copying, a quiet sensory room, multilingual staff, professional ASL interpreters and Nova Scotia Works career staff. Nova Scotia Works also runs free prep sessions before the fair, listed on the job fair prep page.

The organizers say the spring fair drew 1,500 job seekers and representatives from 116 companies over two days.
