HRM Solid Waste’s Holiday Collection Schedule

HRM Release:

(Tuesday, December 21, 2010) – Residents of Halifax Regional
Municipality are advised that there will be no change in garbage,
organics or recyclables collection services during the Christmas and New
Year holiday season.  Regular municipal collection services (garbage,
organics or recyclables) scheduled on Friday, (Dec 24th), Monday (Dec
27th), Friday (Dec 31st) and Monday (Jan 3rd) will occur as usual.

Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7
a.m.  To ensure collection, residents may place materials curbside the
evening prior to collection day.

HRM’s Solid Waste Facilities will see changes in their schedules
during the holiday season:

The Otter Lake Facility will be closed on Christmas Day (Dec 25th),
Boxing Day (Dec 26th), New Year’s Day (Jan 1st) and Sunday, January
2nd.  The facility will be open on December 24th and 31st (7 a.m. to 6
p.m.) and December 27th and January 3rd (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

The HRM Recycling Plant will be closed Christmas Day (Dec 25th) and New
Year’s Day (Jan 1st).  The facility will be open December 24th, 27th,
31st and January 3rd from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

HRM’s residential Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot will be
closed Christmas Day, (Dec 25th) and New Year’s Day (Jan 1st), but
will be open on Saturday, January 8th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
