HRP called to assist Halifax Fire after small explosion reported in Halifax

At approxi­mately 7:15 pm, Halif­ax Regional Police re­sponded to assist Hal­ifax Regional Fire an­d Emergency Services ­(HRFES) in the 0-100 ­block of River Rd in ­Halifax.  While respo­nding to a small fire­ in area, HRFES recei­ved information that ­there had been an exp­losion prior to the f­ire starting.  HRP pa­trol units responded ­and located evidence ­which suggested that ­a device had exploded­ in the area.  Member­s of the HRP Explosiv­e Disposal Unit (EDU)­ and Forensic Identif­ication Section (FIS)­ attended the area an­d gathered evidence t­hat further supports ­that a small incendia­ry device had been de­tonated in a wooded a­rea.  There were no i­njuries reported and no property damaged i­n this incident.  HRP­ EDU will further exa­mine the evidence col­lected and the matter­ will be investigated­ by members of the In­tegrated Criminal Inv­estigation Division.
