At approximately 7:15 pm, Halifax Regional Police responded to assist Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Services (HRFES) in the 0-100 block of River Rd in Halifax. While responding to a small fire in area, HRFES received information that there had been an explosion prior to the fire starting. HRP patrol units responded and located evidence which suggested that a device had exploded in the area. Members of the HRP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) and Forensic Identification Section (FIS) attended the area and gathered evidence that further supports that a small incendiary device had been detonated in a wooded area. There were no injuries reported and no property damaged in this incident. HRP EDU will further examine the evidence collected and the matter will be investigated by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
