HRP investigate suspicious circumstances

Halifax Regional Police is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was overheard by a witness offering candy to a child over the weekend in Halifax.

At 11:15 a.m. on July 9, a witness observed a man, who was driving a white Volkswagen on Wellington Street, offer candy to an approximately 6-year-old child who was walking on the sidewalk. The child refused the candy and kept walking, and is believed to have entered an apartment building in the area.

To this point, no parent/guardian has called to report the incident to the police. As a result, Halifax Regional Police is asking the parent of the child who was offered candy on Saturday morning to call 902-490-5016.

Police are also looking to speak to the driver of the vehicle to ascertain his intentions. He is described as a white man in his forties who had a goatee, crew cut and an athletic build. Officers are asking the man or anyone who has any information about this incident to contact police by calling 902-490-5016.
