Officers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man after he offered a ride to a child last night in Dartmouth.
On March 22 at approximately 5:45 p.m., a man driving in the area of Windmill Road and Jamieson Street pulled up next to a 12-year-old girl who was walking in the area. He smiled and waved and asked her if she needed a ride somewhere. The girl didn’t know the man so she said no and kept walking. A short time later on Hester Street, the man pulled up beside the girl and again asked if she needed a ride and she again said no. A man known to the girl witnessed the incident and approached her to ask if everything was alright. The man in the truck drove off, turning from Hester Street onto Jamieson Street headed towards Windmill Road.
The suspect is described as a white man, 40 to 60 years old, with missing teeth, short red hair and possibly a medium-length grey beard with a patch of red at the bottom. He is described as wearing a camouflage baseball cap, a red plaid shirt with black stripes and jeans. He was driving a newer model black Dodge Ram truck.
Investigators are asking the man who offered the girl a drive or anyone who has any information on this incident to contact police by calling 902-490-5020.
