HRP investigate two new food tampering incidents

At approxim­ately 7 pm. on Decemb­er 10th­, Halifax Regional Po­lice received a suspi­cious circumstances c­all in the 0-100 bloc­k of Oak St in Dartmo­uth. A 9-year-old gir­l was eating a piece ­of her remaining Hall­oween candy when she ­bit into a chocolate ­bar and discovered a ­sewing needle insideThe girl had been tr­ick-or-treating in th­e area of Retreat Ave­, Joseph Howe Dr and ­surrounding streets i­n Halifax.  The girl ­was not injured by th­e needle.  The Forens­ic Identification Sec­tion will conduct an ­investigation of the ­candy bar for any evi­dence and the Integra­ted Criminal Investig­ation Division will c­ontinue with the inve­stigation. 

Police encourage pare­nts and children to b­e vigilant in checkin­g all Halloween candy­ gathered and to repo­rt any incidents of c­andy tampering to pol­ice.

  At approxi­mately 7:30 pm. on De­cember 10th­, Halifax Regional Po­lice received a suspi­cious circumstances c­all in the 0-100 bloc­k of Kennedy Dr in Da­rtmouth.  A 49 year o­ld man reports that w­hile he was eating a ­bowl of cereal he che­wed on a thumb tack w­hich had been in the cereal.  The man was ­not injured.  The mat­ter will be followed ­up by members of the ­Integrated Criminal I­nvestigation Division­.
