HRP investigate two separate overnight incidents : Police investigate hit and run collision involving a pedestrian / Police Investigating Weapons Complaint

Police are investigating a failing to remain at an accident scene motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian.

At 6:00 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to the Halifax Armdale Rotary to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.​

Witnesses described the vehicle slowed down after striking the pedestrian but then fled the scene. The pedestrian was crossing Chebucto Road in a marked crosswalk heading northbound when he was struck by the eastbound vehicle. ​

The vehicle fled eastbound along Chebucto Road.​ The pedestrian, a 34 year old male, was thrown a distance from the crosswalk and sustained minor injuries.​ He was later transported to the QE II for further observation.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small bright red 2-door hatchback with a white male driver and white male front passenger. The vehicle likely sustained damages to the engine bonnet as the pedestrian made contact and rolled off.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police Investigating Weapons Complaint

Halifax Regional Police is currently investigating a weapons complaint in Halifax.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. police received a call regarding concerns for another person’s well-being and that they may be in possession of a firearm.

The investigation led officers from patrol, ERT and K9 to an address on Alma Crescent.

Officers made contact with a female resident and had her exit the apartment at 1:28 a.m. At 3:35 a.m., a male resident exited the apartment and a few minutes later a third occupant exited the apartment. All three were taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters.​

The investigation, which will be handled by officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Section, is still in its early stages and no decision regarding charges has been made. A search of the residence is expected to be completed later today once a Search Warrant has been granted.
