At 4:30 pm this afternoon Halifax Regional Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision the 600 block of Herring Cove Rd. A vehicle was travelling on the Herring Cove Rd when it veered off the side of the roadway and struck a telephone pole, snapping the pole, which landed partially on the car. As a result of this collision power lines came down across the Herring Cove Rd. The 57 year old male driver and 50 year old female passenger were taken to the hospital by ambulance for assessment, the woman is not injured and the driver is still being assessed. Because of the downed wires and the broken pole the 600 block of the Herring Cove Rd remains closed at this time in both directions, while NS Power makes repairs. The collision is still under investigation.
