HRP Investigating Late Night Purse Snatching

At 10:40 last night, an 18-year-old female and her friend were walking on Morris Street near Brenton when they were approached by two males.

One of the males grabbed the 18-year-olds purse from her shoulder before both fleed down the street. The incident was reported immediately to police. Approximately fifteen minutes later, officers were dispatched to an unrelated incident on Wellington Street. One of the subjects police were dealing with on the Wellington Street call, matched the description of the suspect in the purse theft. The man, 36, was arrested and as a result of investigation will face charges of theft, possession of stolen property and Breach of Probation in relation to the purse snatching. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The victim was not injured.
