At approximately 5:30 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Highway 111 prior to the Portland St Exit. A vehicle travelling Southbound on Hwy 111 drove onto the Southbound shoulder of the road, travelled across both Southbound lanes before striking a guardrail and a highway lamp post. The lamp post fell onto the inner most lane of the Northbound lanes of Hwy 111.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. EHS paramedics attended to the 39 year old man who had been driving the vehicle and transported him to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The NS Department of Transportation attended the scene to remove the lamp post. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
