31 January Snow Totals

31 january snowfalls

As it turned out, the consensus of the weather models resulted in a pretty good forecast.  New Brunswick had only snow, with peak amounts near 35cm.

In NS, the Fundy coast, Annapolis Valley, and approaching the NS-NB border was mostly snow, with 20-30cm.   The Atlantic coast and eastern sections of Nova Scotia changed from snow to freezing rain to rain then back to flurries late in the day.  While it was messy in places, there was not much snow, with total amounts in Halifax around 6cm (4cm in the early morning and another 2cm last night.  Prince Edward Island also saw quite a bit of mixing, especially in eastern sections.  PEI had more snow than NS but less than Southern NB.

See the next post for scenario for the storm beginning on Groundhog Day.
