Hubbards, on the edge of HRM, has quite a few cottages and is close to many great beaches and a great place to go for a drive or a close spot to go stay overnight.
A bizarre development home of Hubbards Landing Steak & Seafood Restaurant with a conveience store. Across the parking lot are some services including Touch of Class Hairstyling, but the weird part is right beside are equally designed buildings that are residential duplexes right in the parking lot.
A little further down the road is Ida’s Tourist Trap: trinkets and sea glass but a popular stop for the Highway 3 traveler.
Shore Club is still rocking out every summer Saturday night since 1946 – a night out at the Shore Club is a great experience. I haven’t done it in 15 years, but just writing this makes me want to go again. When there isn’t a late night dance there are Lobster Suppers Thu-Sun located right at Hubbards Beach.
Continuing on to the Trellis cafe with yummy food…. and live folksy music. Next door is For the love of Daisy, Holistic Pet Foods and accesories. Another Highway 3 Gift Shoppe is Michael and Tony’s and the ubiquitous Hwy 3 antique shop, Mother Hubbards Cupboard.
The next stop on the highway is the Hubbards Barn & Community Park, home of the Hubbards Farmers Market which operates May to October and has Food and crafts to keep you content. When the Barn isn’t hosting the market it can be rented out and they even show movies in the summer.
Then we have the Rural strip mall, up front Hubbards Hair design and the Home Hardware: The centrepiece of small town Canada. In the back mall you have Scotiabank, and Save Easy and an NSLC which establishes a small town in NS as fancy.
There is also the 4 way stop pizzeria and a V&S that has things! I mean it has things, what more can you need? Rounding it off is Whims, an ice cream/used paperback store. Across the street is a giant new Pharamasave which seems to be quite common across populated Rural NS.
Go another 100 feet and you are out of the HRM and into Lunenburg County, so depending how you look at it, the Pharmasave is the first or last place you can spend money in the HRM.
