Human Remains Found In Middle Sackville

June 9, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . Members of the Halifax RCMP/HRP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are investigating human remains found in Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia.

Earlier today, around 2:00 p.m., surveyors working in a heavily wooded area in the 3300-block of Sackville Drive in Middle Sackville came upon a skull bone and called police.  The Medical Examiner was also called to the scene and determined the bone found was a human skull.  The Major Crimes Unit has now launched a full investigation.  Forensic Identification Specialists are at the scene and are assisting in the removal of the remains.  Police are working with the Medical Examiner’s office to identify the remains and to determine a cause of death.
 
Officers are continuing with their search of the property. The investigation is ongoing.
