Hwy 105 closed as RCMP investigate serious car/ pedestrian collision, South Haven, N.S.

RCMP are currently on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 105 near South Haven.

At approximately 12:18pm, Victoria County RCMP, and EHS responded to a serious collision involving a small car and a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation indicates a female adult pedestrian was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound. The pedestrian has been transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car was not injured. Highway 105 in South Haven near the collision site is closed to traffic in both directions.

RCMP expect the road to be closed for several hours. A traffic analyst has been called to assist with the investigation. RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area. The section of Highway 105 does not allow for the re-routing of traffic. Motorists travelling to and from Cape Breton may consider using Highway 4.

The investigation is ongoing with Victoria County RCMP.
