The forecast calls for freezing rain beginning at about 11 pm with a change over to rain before morning. While morning air temperatures are expected to rise to several degrees above the freezing mark, roads are expected to remain at below freezing temperatures for a longer period, which can make for slippery streets and sidewalks.
Conditions are expected to vary by road type and traffic volume, with gravel roads being especially difficult.
Municipal Operations will have full night shift crews in overnight and bring in contractors as required, however, but with potential for rain washing away salt, road conditions may change quickly.
Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of changing surface conditions.
