Idle No More March – Traffic Advisory

Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Harbour Bridges are issuing a traffic advisory in relation to a march in support of the Idle No More movement scheduled for January 28.
Starting at approximately 10:15 a.m., Idle No More activists will march across the Macdonald Bridge, travel along North Street, left onto Gottingen Street, right onto Rainnie Drive and proceed to Citadel Hill. One of the three lanes of the Macdonald Bridge will be closed for approximately 30 minutes and streets along the route will be closed as the marchers make their way to Citadel Hill. As a safety measure, members of the Halifax Regional Police/Halifax District RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit will act as an escort and Gottingen Street beat patrol officers will walk with the marchers.
Motorists should expect delays along the course of the march and should consider using alternate routes.
Halifax Regional Police supports and will protect everyone’s democratic right to protest peacefully and assemble freely. We will continue to work collaboratively with the Aboriginal community to ensure any planned events in support of the Idle No More Movement are safe for everyone involved.
