“You’re a lifer!” These are the words of my physiotherapist about 5 years ago after my knee surgery and after my initial consultation with him.

I’ve played sports my whole life and while playing sports I’m the type who doesn’t know what “letting up” or what “just go at 50%” means. I go balls out in everything I do; Sports, work, the gym, eating… everything, it’s who I am. Unfortunately, I’m also a giant klutz! I’m one of the few people I know who can fall going UP a set of stairs. So being the type that goes balls out all the time and also being the type who falls going up a set of stairs, think about the amazing possibilities of injuries. I’m a physiotherapist’s dream come true, a “lifer”, if you will.

Right now I’m dealing with a sprained left toe, what I believe is a broken right toe, a pinched nerve in my neck/shoulder area on the right side and a flared-up right knee. The toe injuries may not seem like a big deal, but when you play beach volleyball twice a week and softball twice a week, it really affects your game. The injuries have literally been around for about 14-15 years which all comes back to the “klutz of which is Scott”. I’ve stubbed my toes more times than I can count and I’m assuming that has left them tender and easily re-injured while playing sports with impact on them like in volleyball. My neck injury is left over from the motorcycle accident and can get aggravated if I sneeze funny. I injured it yesterday because I was an idiot in the gym and lifted FAR too much weight while doing shoulder press because I had a spotter for the first time in a while and figured, why not? And my knee is just flared up from playing hockey last week. It’s the knee I tore my meniscus on and had my surgery on so occasionally it flares up.

I’m not exactly sure what the point of this post is, I’m just cranky and venting because of how uncomfortable I feel right now. I actually feel nauseous because of the pain my neck and shoulder are causing me. I have beach volleyball and I’m not sure how I’m going to play 4 games (2 sets each) and not die. I have a chiro appointment in the morning, so I’m HOPING that is going to help! A little crackity crack crack action to loosen something in my neck and back, I hope!
