I’m Hungry: Fondue Fun!

Dust off your pot and get out the skewers – it’s Fondue time! A family favourite in our house that always gets the kids eating platefuls of meat, fish and veggies. My youngest calls it a “fun-do” and she’s right since it certainly is a lot of fun to do!

As a healthier option than the standard heavy cheese and oil fondues, we opt for broth recipes, like this asian-inspired one and use shrimp, salmon pieces, slices of beef and veggies like carrots, mushrooms, peppers, broccoli and baby corn.  Load it all on a platter and let the kids have fun cooking their own dinner!  Be sure to include some great dips like salsa, low-fat salad dressings and balsamic vinegar to add to the taste experience!

Of course, there’s nothing better than a chocolate fondue to keep the theme going. A healthier version to consider is mixing plain yoghurt with a small squeeze of chocolate sauce or a splash of orange juice as a fancy dip for your favourite fruit.

Guaranteed fun for the whole family!
