Impaired driver arrested, passed out behind the wheel

Pictou District RCMP arrested a 66-year-old Cape Breton man for impaired driving after a caller reported him passed out behind the wheel of a truck on the side of the highway.​

The call was received at approximately 8 a.m. on June 1. Pictou District RCMP responded and located the vehicle near Exit 19 on Hwy. 104 in Saltsprings. The driver was showing signs of being impaired by alcohol and police arrested him. The driver was transported to Pictou Detachment for a breath test and his readings were three times the legal limit of 80 mg%.

The driver is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, and Operating a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80mg%. He was released from custody and is​ scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on August 6.​
