At 2:30 am this morning east members responded to Pleasant Street near Portland Street to a report of a head on collision.
A 58 year old female taxi driver who was the sole occupant of her vehicle was stopped at Pleasant Street facing north bound. A BMW sedan with 6 occupants came speeding around the corner attempting to turn right onto Pleasant street from Portland. The BMW struck the Impala Taxi head on. Both vehicles sustained major damages. The 29 year old driver of the BMW, was arrested at the scene for impaired driving causing bodily harm. He remains in police custody. The remaining 5 occupants of the BMW were adults. A 32 year old female who was a rear passenger received serious but not believed to be life threatening injuries, she remains in hospital. The female taxi driver also received serious but not believed to be life threatening injuries, she also remains in hospital. Pleasant street between Portland and St. Georges Lane remains shut down as accident investigators have been called to the scene.
