Impaired driving charges after crash near MacKay Bridge onramp

Police have a charged an impaired driver in relation to a crash that occurred in Halifax last night.

On February 20 at approximately 9:55 p.m. officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash near the ramp leading from Massachusetts Avenue to the MacKay Bridge, Dartmouth bound. The driver of the vehicle had fled on foot prior to officers arriving on scene. A K-9 Unit arrested the driver in a wooded area near Memorial Drive.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of operating a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol above 80mg%.
