Impaired driving charges after man falls out of moving vehicle

Kings District RCMP is investigating after a man fell from a moving vehicle driven by an impaired driver.

On June 7 at 4:40 p.m. Kings District RCMP were dispatched to Greenfield Rd. in Gaspereau, where a man had fallen from a moving SUV on to the roadway. Police attended and found the man unconscious and being treated by EHS. The 23-year-old Wolfville man was transported to Valley Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later transported to the QEII Hospital in Halifax by LifeFlight. The vehicle involved had been transporting the man and two small children to a popular local tubing area. It is believed the man had been sitting in the rear of the SUV with the hatch door open.

Police located the driver, who was showing signs of impairment. The driver provided a sample of breath and failed the roadside test. She was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the New Minas RCMP Detachment.

A 29-year-old Kentville woman is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm and Operating a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80 mg% Causing Bodily Harm. The woman has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on September 14, 2021 at 9:20 a.m.
