Important #Sackville Radio News: A Message From The Cobequid Radio Society….

From Cobequid Radio Society: As I am sure you are aware our attempt to gain a full time broadcast license for the station that was known as “Sackville Special Event Radio” was turned down by the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission in June 2011.Following that rejection of our application, and the death of our founder and major force in the radio project, Owen Davis, the Board of Directors of our not for profit society slowly moved forward with the plan to re-apply for a radio service for the region.

From Cobequid Radio Society:

As I am sure you are aware our attempt to gain a full time broadcast license for the station that was known as “Sackville Special Event Radio” was turned down by the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission in June 2011.Following that rejection of our application, and the death of our founder and major force in the radio project, Owen Davis, the Board of Directors of our not for profit society slowly moved forward with the plan to re-apply for a radio service for the region.

We are pleased to announce that on March 28th we again applied to the CRTC for a license.
This time we are seeking a higher power – 250 watts as opposed to the original 50 watts, and a new spot on the dial – 88.7 as opposed to Sackville Special Event Radio’s106.9
.

Now we wait. The application will be assessed by the CRTC staff and when they are satisfied we have provided all the necessary information, they will make our application public, and seek public input.

We will be seeking your support at that time. Many of you supported our earlier application, and we hope you will be able to do that again.

*Do not do anything yet*, however. This is just a heads up … and when our application is open for comment, we will let you know, and will provide detailed information on ways you can make your feelings known to the CRTC.

For now, just await word that the application is open for comment.
