Hi everyone,Â
St. Paul’s will be getting a new minister soon. Last week I was speaking with Reverend Catherine Macdonald, who currently works at the United Memorial Church on Young street in the North End. She will be moving churches and is excited to learn more about Spryfield.Â
Pavia Gallery, which opened its first store in Herring Cove, just went through a major expansion and hired 40 people to work in its two new branches at the Halifax Central Library. If you haven’t been to Central yet, just go. You have to see it. Pavia is also doing the following fundraiser for the YWCA:
“This New Year’s Day individuals will come together to form a very special swim team in an effort to raise over $5,000 for the YWCA Halifax. For the second year in a row our friends at the Pavia Gallery, along with some special guests, will brave the North Atlantic Ocean on New Year’s Day all to raise awareness and funds for the YWCA Halifax. The event will be held January 1, 2015. at 12:00 noon at The government Wharf in Herring Cove. Registration at St. Paul’s Parish Hall, start at 9:30 am.”
Speaking of the YWCA, those good people have prepared some frozen turkey dinners that can be picked up free by families in need at the Chebucto Family Centre until Dec. 24 at noon. The centre is open 9-5 on Herring Cove Rd, call 902-423-6162.Â
Have a wonderful holiday and best wishes for the New Year!Â
