Info on the Light Up Bedford Parade

Santa waves to a crowd of kids, big and small, during a previous Light Up Bedford Parade.

This year’s parade will take place on Sunday November 21, 2010.

The Light Up Bedford Parade is now in its 13th year and parade committee volunteers are busy getting organized. This is a smaller but just as festive and bright cousin to the Halifax parade, and has become a special tradition to many families in Bedford and surrounding communities.

Floats leave the Atlantic Superstore/Bedford Place Mall parking lot at 5:45 p.m. and proceed down the Bedford Highway to DeWolf Park, where local talent will lead a carol sing-along with the annual tree lighting ceremony.

Representatives from the Turkey Club will be collecting money (no food) along the route and at the entertainment spots so we ask everyone to bring a Loonie, Toonie or whatever you can afford (and if that is nothing that’s ok too) to help out the needy at this difficult time of year.

Prior to the parade, you can enjoy the “Entertainment Spots” that feature local talent and cups of hot chocolate.

Don’t forget your letters to Santa!
