Information results in arrest, serious charges after assault with a weapon in Halifax

As a result of the continued investigation and new information there is one update to mention in relation to a previous media release issued on October 6th.

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid charges against the 27 year old male involved in this incident.

Originally described as the victim in this matter investigators have charged a 27 year old Halifax male with Forcible Confinement, Assault and Theft. The accused had a bail hearing earlier this afternoon and has been released with conditions from custody. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

The 25 year old female involved in this incident has been released without charges.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a report of an assault with a weapon during the early morning hours of October 6, 2018.

At approximately 2:22 a.m. police responded to a call involving a 27 year old male located on Inglis St. at Tower Rd. reporting he had been stabbed. The male victim reported the stabbing had occurred in Point Pleasant Park after an altercation with a female known to him.

A 25 year old female suspect was taken into custody. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been treated and released.

The investigation is continuing.
