Information/Datasets Added to Open Data Portal


New information or datasets has been added to government’s open data portal. The portal provides free, easy access to a variety of government data.

Datasets available today, July 5, include:
— historical data listing of the 3,865 Nova Scotia women and men who signed petitions for the vote to be extended to women
— details on boil water advisories
— data on Serious Reportable Events from the Health Authorities and IWK Health Centre
— geographic data including county boundaries, deer management zones, and Department of Natural Resources field office locations
— locations of tourism operators listed on Novascotia.com, including accommodations, restaurants, trails
— public opinion research data

Datasets made available on June 29 included:
— cruise ship passenger visits
— ferment on premises licensees, which are facilities where people can make their own wine and beer
— same gender marriages data
— numbers and rates of substance-related fatalities
— solar electricity for community buildings program
— environmental monitoring program data
— public opinion research data
— grants and funding data
— crude prevalence rates for four chronic diseases – chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, hypertension and ischemic heart disease

Quick Facts:
— the Government of Nova Scotia will continue to publish non-sensitive data in accessible formats, promoting the reuse of government data for innovative purposes
— the open data portal has received more than 690,000 page views and 36,000 downloads since its launch in February 2016.
