RCMP are referring a matter to Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response team (SiRT) for investigation.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., a Digby RCMP member was alerted to a possible impaired driver on a motorcycle.
A short distance away, the motorcyclist was located on a dead end street turning his motorcycle around. The RCMP activated emergency equipment and the motorcyclist drove away down First Ave. Seconds later, the motorcycle crashed.
EHS paramedics attended the scene and the lone rider, a 45-year-old man suffered serious injury and was airlifted to hospital in Halifax.
The RCMP has referred this to the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) who have taken over the investigation. Given the matter is now being investigated by SIRT, the RCMP is not able to disclose further details.
