I was fortunate enough to get access to the Dillon on Market and Sackville Streets to take some pictures before construction begins. The developer, Mosaik Properties, has named the redeveloped building after Patrick Dillon, who had constructed the original building in the 1860s.
He ran a store on the street level while living with his family on the upper levels. Mosaik Properties is keeping the original building completely intact and will only need to replace the columns within the historic structure so it can properly support the the new floors being built above.
Here are some pictures I photographed of the inside of the original building before construction begins in a few weeks. The units constructed in the historical portion of the building will have exposed brick and beams, as shown in the in the pictures. The photograph included of the basement is where Strange Adventures was formerly located. Construction is planned to be complete by fall 2015. More info @ www.thedillon.ca
