The Department of Environment advised Northern Pulp today, Feb. 5, that it will amend the industrial approval issued on Jan. 30 to address a typographical error.
The required amendment relates to the site location of a required 2019 study to identify future options for further improvement in the quality of effluent going into Boat Harbour.
The Environment Act contains specific direction regarding typographical errors. The department must provide proponents with 30 days notice before issuing amendments. After the 30 days have passed, the revised industrial approval, with the amendment, can be issued. The mill and any member of the public who wants to appeal will have 30 days from that date to do so.
The revised approval will be posted on the department website once it has been issued. The industrial approval issued Jan. 30 remains in place until then.
