Delegates of the North American Forestry Commission – Fire Management Working Group are meeting in Halifax, sharing the best ways for fighting forest fires.

The 14 attendees are from Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia and Costa Rica, and an Italian member of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

While in Nova Scotia, the delegates visited the House of Assembly, met with Minister of Natural Resources Zach Churchill, visited the Department of Natural Resources Lunenburg office and toured the waterfront. Their meetings will conclude today, Oct. 17.

The Fire Management Working Group was established in 1962. Its annual meetings are an opportunity for members to learn about new firefighting techniques and technology, and to build co-operation with international agencies around fighting forest fires.
