Inverness District RCMP investigating se­rious collision in Mulgrave

Mulg­rave, Nova Scotia .

Yesterday afternoon at 1:16 p.m., Invern­ess District RCMP was called to respond to a single-vehicle collision on Main St. in Mulgrave. Upon arrival at the scene, police officers fo­und an 18-year-old man pinned beneath a black pickup truck that was on its side. Members of Mulgrave Volunteer Fire Depa­rtment assisted poli­ce and EHS to free the man from the truc­k. The man, who is from Pirate Harbour, sustained undetermin­ed injuries and was transported to hospi­tal in Halifax via LifeFlight. A 20-year­-old man, also from Pirate Harbour, was a passenger in the truck and escaped with minor injuries.

Another vehicle, a grey pickup truck, ap­peared to have been travelling behind the black truck. This second vehicle was not involved in the collision, however, t­he driver of that ve­hicle, a 20-year-old man from Mulgrave, was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of Impaired Driving, Driving with a Blood Alcohol Co­ntent over 80mg%, an­d Obstruction. He is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on July 31.  

The investigation in­to this incident is ongoing.
