Investigation into suspicious fire underway

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, together with the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal, is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in McGrath’s Cove.

On June 2, at approximately 6 a.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE), responded to a report of a structure fire on McGrath’s Cove Rd. Upon arrival, a home and two outbuildings were engulfed in flames.

No one was at the residence at the time, and HRFE members extinguished the fire. All three structures, however, were destroyed, and three vehicles on the property were damaged by the fire. No one was injured in the incident.

Investigators with the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal have deemed the fire to be suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the General Investigation Section of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
