Investigators have charged a man for a sexual assault that occurred in Dartmouth last month

Investigators have charged a man for a sexual assault that occurred in Dartmouth last month.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. on November 17, officers responded to a report that a man had just entered a store on Countryview Drive and sexually assaulted a female employee by touching her inappropriately in a sexual manner. The woman was able to get away from the man and report the incident to the store manager. The man fled the store when the manager approached him and was seen leaving the parking lot in a taxi.

Through the investigation officers identified a suspect. Fifty-eight-year-old Timothy Conrad Jackson of Dartmouth has been charged with sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.

To protect the identity of the victim we are not identifying the name or location of the store.

Sexual assault investigations are very complex. As part of our victim-centered, trauma-informed approach to sexualized violence, we work closely with victims to ensure they’re willing to proceed with a police investigation, which includes giving a statement about the incident and providing a description of the suspect if possible. In addition to protecting the investigation police must also ensure the victim’s privacy is upheld and well-being is fully considered.
