Jewelry store thief arrested

Police have arrested a man in relation to warrant for two robberies that occurred earlier this year.

On May 21 investigators from the Guns and Gangs Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested Jamar Lakwame Carvery, 23, in the area of Ruben Court in Dartmouth after a brief pursuit. He was wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant for the following charges:

  • Robbery (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Mischief
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Breach of a release order (x2)

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today and will also face additional charges of flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

On March 1 police responded to robberies at Ash Jewelry on Quinpool Road in Halifax and Cash Trader in Lower Sackville. The suspects were located in the area of the Halifax Shopping Centre on Mumford Road in Halifax following the robberies. The mall was secured while police searched for the suspects. Officers arrested two of the three suspects at the mall and recovered the stolen property. The third suspect fled the area.

On March 29 police requested the public assistance in locating the third suspect, Jamar Lakwame Carvery for whom Canada-wide arrest warrant had been issued in relation to the robberies.
