John Dunsworth (best known as Mr. Lahey of “Trailer Park Boys”) will announce Sunday that he is going to run for HRM Mayor.
Just as soon as Dunsworth returns from his Western tour (bypassing Hope, BC, this year), Dunsworth confirmed by phone that he will throw his hat into the ring – facing off against veteran Mike Savage and entrepreneur Fred Connors, Dunsworth feels his experience on Trailer Park Boys gives him perspective to run HRM better than it has been run before.
Asked in this exclusive interview what changes he would make first, John Dunsworth responded that he would make marijuana legal within city limits. When caught off guard on the sticky subject of chickens, he proved that he has political chops and had been thinking about this delicate issue for a long time – instantly affirming that he would support chickens within the city limits as long as the breeders were required to share the eggs with neighbours.
Dunsworth lives outside “city limits” in an undisclosed “cove”.
While John Dunsworth has many supporters, chicken ranch farmer George Vegas is not one of them. “Well that’s going to cut into my profits” he commented by phone from his farm in Back Centre, (near the Ovens), South Shore where he runs an egg factory. “But then, I guess I don’t get to vote do I?”
Dunsworth would not confirm the rumour about cats.
