Join The Backyardigans at the HRM Christmas Tree Lighting

(Thursday, November 22, 2011) – Mayor Mike Savage and members of Halifax Regional Council, and our sponsors, invite you and your family to the 2012 HRM Christmas Tree Lighting this Saturday, November 24, 6 – 7 p.m., in Grand Parade.
This year, join The Backyardigans for some interactive musical fun.  The adventure continues with Pablo the penguin, Tyrone the moose and Uniqua the purple-spotted creature as they set out on their latest musical journey.
This free event is for the whole family and features:
·         Lighting of the Christmas Tree with new magical white lights and ornaments
·         A visit from Santa Claus
·         Fireworks
·         The Chess Club band
·         The Backyardigans live stage show
Volunteers from FEED NOVA SCOTIA will be onsite to collect food and cash donations. They will be located around the entrances to Grand Parade on both Barrington and Argyle streets.  Bring two strands of traditional holiday lights, and Efficiency Nova Scotia will give you a free string of energy-saving LED lights.  HRM advises that Argyle Street between Duke and Carmichael Street will be closed to vehicles from 5-7 p.m for the safety and comfort of all on the night of the event.
