« Justice » branded Light Up Bed Canopies recalled due to fire and burn hazards

Product description: This recall involves « Justice » branded mesh bed canopies lined with battery-powered lights.  The recalled canopies attach to the ceiling with a hook and include a 69 cm round hoop draped in mesh that is lined with AA battery-powered LED light strands.  The product is approximately 218 cm long and 239 cm wide at the base when suspended.  The canopies were sold in three styles:  White, Pink, and Blue. The style number appears on a label near the battery compartment.  The SKU appears beneath the bar code on a label affixed to the product packaging.

Hazard identified: The lights in the battery-powered bed canopy can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard. As of April 26, 2019, the company has received 2 report of the canopy lights overheating and burning in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 16 reports of the canopy lights melting the wiring or mesh canopy, including 1 report of a minor burn injury.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lights, remove the batteries, and return the product to any Justice retail store for a full refund or store credit.
